Jacaranda Health is thrilled to announce the promotion of Javan Waita to Director of Kenya Programs.

Since joining Jacaranda Health in 2022, Javan has played a central role in shaping and scaling some of our most important initiatives. As Head of Programs, he led the scale-up of PROMPTS, our two-way digital health platform for mothers, helping the program reach more than 700,000 women in 2025. This was the highest number of women reached in a single year in Jacaranda Health’s history. He also led the implementation and expansion of our Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) mentorship program, helping equip 4,000 frontline healthcare workers with critical maternal and newborn health skills across 18 of Kenya’s counties.

As Director of Kenya Programs, Javan will lead Jacaranda Health’s largest country portfolio at a pivotal moment in its growth.

Under Javan’s leadership, the Kenya team will focus on implementation of our 2026-28 strategy, with a focus on the following priorities:

1. Achieving national scale of PROMPTS, aiming to reach 70% of all pregnant women annually.
2. Strengthening quality of care for mothers and newborns, through targeted provider mentorship, digital learning tools, and support for health systems improvement in priority counties.
3. Deepening national influence and government integration, embedding Jacaranda Health’s programs, data, and implementation insights into national policies, standards of practice, and health information systems.
4. Leveraging data and implementation insights to drive decision-making and advocacy, generating evidence that informs policy, strengthens health system accountability, supports resource allocation, and accelerates adoption of proven interventions.

My focus is on strengthening systems, supporting innovative and scalable programs, and working closely with governments, partners, and communities to deliver responsive, efficient, and people-centered health solutions that create lasting change in Kenya.”

As Director of Kenya Programs, he will help guide Jacaranda Health’s next chapter of growth, ensuring that more mothers receive the information, care, and support they need for healthy pregnancies, safe deliveries, and thriving newborns.
