Despite high health care coverage, Eswatini (formally Swaziland) still maintains one of Africa’s highest maternal and newborn mortality rates. The National Ministry of Health has outlined a comprehensive plan to address this challenge, including improving education and sensitization of key health information among mothers, improving HIV management during and after pregnancy, and identifying the ‘last mile’ of under-immunized infants across the country.
We support county governments to co-own and co-finance our solutions, as a pathway to long-term sustainability. Over the last seven years, Jacaranda has earnt increasing government recognition and buy-in by proving its solutions can deliver impact on government health priorities and by routinely sharing data that helps them do more with their resources.

PROMPTS is deployed in all four regions of the country, from Shiselweni in the south to Hhohho in the north. Jacaranda is working with the Ministry of Health and CHAI to deepen its scale and impact in these regions by partnering with public health centers and hospitals to enroll mothers to the platform, with the aim of reaching all facilities in the country by 2025.
